FAQ -
How many dogs do you take at the same time?
My philosophy - the more dogs, the better the walk! TPW typically has anywhere from as little a 3-4 dogs at a time, to over a dozen! Never underestimate the power of the pack. Dogs don’t want to run away from their friends - they’re pack animals! It’s easier to control more than one dog off-leash than a lone wolf. Pre-trained pack members set a good example for the rest of the pack.
Do you offer Pack Walk discounts or “bulk booking” prices (10-walk pass)?
Yes, and I highly suggest it! The more your dog comes to dog camp, the quicker they will perfect the ways of pack walking.
Do you offer Pack Walk discounts if I have 2/3 dogs?
Yes - $5 off a second dog, $10 a third dog.
How long is each Pack Walk?
All walks are at least 1 hour. Average walks last between 1.5 - 2 hours. On days where weather is more cold/wet, or even too hot, I will look to the pack to let me know if they need to cut our walk short - which usually ends up at 45 minutes. As a veterinary technician, I am very cautious about my dogs staying cool in the summer months, and making sure they’re properly dressed in the wintertime.
Do you pick up my dogs? Or do I drop them off?
For your convenience, I will pick your dog up from home and drop them off after our walk. This allows me to set the tone for the walk before your dog even crosses the threshold. Your dog will learn to be calm and listen, understanding his reward will be an adventure with friends.
My dog has never been off-leash before. Can she still join your Pack Walks?
Yes! I have trained many dogs who had not yet perfected off-leash walking. Pack Walks are the perfect transition to successful off-leash walking in the great outdoors. The pack has proven an invaluable tool in helping me teach new dogs how to follow suit. As a result, you’ll be able to enjoy your own off-leash outings with your dog.
My dog doesn’t like other dogs. What are my options?
I have worked with reactive dogs and supported them to recover from insecurities leading to issues around other dogs. Several of my pack members now enjoy being out with the other dogs after our work. This is not for every dog, but I am happy to meet and asses your dogs needs. I have wonderful recommendations of local dog trainers I can refer if your dogs needs are more than I can cater to.
My dog is very old, but he still enjoys walks. Do you have any days featuring easier walks specially designated for older dogs?
Older dogs generally prefer walking at their own pace during my private walks. If they are still physically capable, we can trial them during an easier Pack Walk when weather might shorten the length of the walk. Every dog is unique however, and I do have several senior citizens enjoying our walks some days.
My dog has to wear a muzzle when he is walked. Will you still walk him?
Muzzles are stigmatized towards aggressive dogs, when in reality, many dogs wear muzzles to keep them from eating things off the ground. TPW understands the multitude of reasons an owner might choose to use a muzzle with their dog. I am happy to discuss the reasons your dog needs a muzzle, and whether he will be a good fit for Pack Walks.
Can you accommodate for special needs/medications in your boarding services?
As a veterinary nurse and well seasoned pet-sitter, I am well-experienced in caring for pets with special needs or medical issues that require extra attention. Medication administration and disability accommodations are no problem for me to provide for my clients, while experienced eyes and instincts will monitor your pet and provide any feedback that might need to be brought to attention.
I have a pet hamster/ferret/bird/fish/plants in addition to my dog. Can you include them in your house-sitting/boarding services? Will it cost extra?
I am happy to look after any animal you call family. I adjust my rates per case, depending on the pet care and their needs.
I’m going to be away for an entire month. Is that too long for your boarding/house-sitting services?
With the right fit, pets can be happily looked after for long periods of time. I insist on establishing a relationship beforehand, so I can gauge your pet’s needs, and whether they can be happy and healthy with me for more than just a week or two.
